Warrior of the Altaii offers a distinct experience than Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. I recommend reading this after you are finished with the Wheel of Time series, as it is important to note the differences in character development and complexity.

If you are familiar with the Aiel in WoT series, Wulfgar, the central character, definitely embodies the spirit of Aiel ancestors. However, the depth and complexity found in Jordan’s WoT are not entirely mirrored here. The characters in this book are not as developed or complex as WoT. Only Wulfgar has a somewhat depth in his character. But still, I cannot fathom why he’s so against change.

“Warrior of the Altaii” really excels in delivering intense battle scenes. The violence are more explicit, you will feel that combat is gritty and the stakes are personal. In my opinion, the violence and brutality were meant to show the harsh realities of the Altaii world. The detailed ‘punishment’ scenes also contribute to this narrative, enhancing the story.

In summary, “Warrior of the Altaii” is a recommended read for those hungry for more adventure after the Wheel of Time series. The book’s excels in its portrayal of battles and explores a world where change is met with fierce resistance. Not all character depth matches Jordan’s intricate sagas, but “Warrior of the Altaii” is different. It captivates with its relentless action and a glimpse into a realm where resilience is tested. For fans seeking a fresh perspective on fantasy, this work by Robert Jordan provides a compelling and intense journey.
